Anita Anand of Indian origin out of race for post of PM of Canada ntc

Anita Anand of Indian origin is out of the race to become the Prime Minister of Canada. She has said in a statement that she will not contest the next elections in the country as MP from Oakville, Ontario. His statement came a few days after Trudeau offered to resign from the post of Prime Minister. Anita Anand was being seen as the replacement for Justin Trudeau. However, now after her announcement she is out of this race. Before him, two other leaders who were in the race had withdrawn their names.

While giving information about her decision, Anita Anand confirmed that she will not contest re-election as MP from Oakville, Ontario. In his statement, he thanked the outgoing Canadian Prime Minister for welcoming him to the Liberal team as a Member of Parliament and giving him important cabinet portfolios. After this he also thanked the people of Oakville for electing him to the House of Commons of Canada.

She said in her statement that I heartily thank Prime Minister Trudeau for welcoming me to the Liberal team as a Member of Parliament and for assigning me the key cabinet portfolio. I am grateful to the people of Oakville that they elected me to represent them in the House of Commons of Canada. They are wonderful people where my husband and I raised our four children over the past 20 years.

In her statement, Anand also highlighted that she will continue to play her role as an MP till the next elections. She said, “I will continue to honor my role as a public office holder until the next election.”

Also made Chairman of Treasury Board

Born to a Tamil father and a Punjabi mother, 57-year-old Anand has held several ministries in Trudeau’s cabinet. Since he was included in Trudeau’s cabinet. Anand handled key ministries like public services and procurement and defence. He was also made the Chairman of the Treasury Board in 2024.

Before entering politics in 2019, Anand practiced law and taught in universities. She was a visiting lecturer at Yale University and professor of law at the University of Toronto.

Thanked the people of Oakville

Talking about his roots, Anand said that many people had ignored him by saying that someone of Indian origin could not win Oakville. She said, “Yet Oakville has won me not once but twice since 2019, which is an honor that I will always keep in my heart.”
