The new service was codenamed Duet, a merger of Duo and Meet. It was supposed to be a product that combines the best of both services. A little later, however, Google decided to make a new application exclusively for corporate use.
As such, Android won’t have a direct competitor to FaceTime in the coming years. Meet is developing for corporate use, and Duo, although it remains in service, is clearly not a priority for Google.
In a statement, however, the company claims it has “a rich roadmap for next year for both consumers and business users.”
