Android 15 Beta 3 update: Google Releases Android 15 Beta 3 with New Features

Android 15 has now reached platform stability, allowing developers to integrate new features into their applications.

Google rolled out Android 15 Beta 3 on Tuesday, marking a significant step in the upcoming update to the Android operating system, which is used on more than 3 billion active devices. With the release of this third beta, Android 15 has now reached platform stability. This milestone means developers can now integrate new features with their applications in preparation for the official release of Android 15.

Android 15 Beta 3 Features

Google is rolling out Android 15 Beta 3 to various smartphone models, including the Pixel 6, Pixel 6a, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 8, Pixel 8a, and Pixel 8 Pro. Users can also install the Android 15 Beta 3 on their Pixel Fold and Pixel tablets. This new beta release includes the June 2024 security patch, similar to the stable version of Android 14 that was released earlier this month. Additionally, Google Play Services has been updated to version 24.16.17 on Android 15 Beta 3.

 What’s New in Android 15 Beta 3

Unlike previous versions, Google has listed only one user-facing feature improvement in the Android 15 Beta 3 release. After updating to the third beta, users will be able to log in to apps with a single tap using a passkey. Google states that Android 15 will introduce a card that informs users they can use their fingerprint or facial recognition to log in to apps, simplifying the login process.

Another improvement in Android 15 Beta 3 is the ability to see the passkey and “Sign in with Google” options along with saved logins in the suggestion row above the keyboard. According to the company, these options will also be shown in a drop-down menu in the password field. Additionally, 9to5Google discovered an improved wallpaper editor for the Pixel Fold that lets users preview both displays before applying a wallpaper, as well as a new adaptive screen timeout option that turns off the screen when not in use. The new beta release also shows the full volume menu without the minimize option, and the screenshot preview now appears above the button in Android 15 Beta 3.

How to Download Android 15 Beta 3

According to Google, if you have enrolled your Google Pixel phone or tablet in the company’s beta program, you will automatically receive the over-the-air update in the coming days. If you want to manually check for the Android 15 Beta 3 update, open the Settings app, then tap System, Software Update, System Update, and Check for Update. After the update is installed, you will need to reboot your device to complete the process.

You can also flash factory images of the Android 15 Beta 3 update on your device or test the new beta version in an emulator if you don’t have a Pixel device. As beta updates are less stable than standard software releases, it is not recommended to install them on your primary device.
