An alternative to conventional batteries has been invented in Russia

Russian scientists have developed an organic electrode material for high-capacity and high-power potassium-ion batteries. It will create a low-cost alternative to lithium-ion batteries.

Conventional lithium-ion batteries have disadvantages. This is, firstly, the limitation in the rate of return and accumulation of energy. And secondly, lithium is a depleted metal.

Therefore, scientists decided to create an organic compound to replace the materials used. We are talking about octahydroxytetraazapentacenedione (OHTAPQ) – a new electrode material for the anode of potassium batteries with a high specific charge capacity.

The material-based electrode has already shown stable performance for over 1200 charge-discharge cycles. OHTAPQ can be used in ultra-fast batteries for any device.

Scientists argue that organic materials are lighter than inorganic materials, and store more energy.
