Eastwood noted that the cost of the American fighter is about $ 80 million, and the Russian – $ 30 million. Thanks to the price, the Russian aircraft will be of interest to countries with developing air forces. But this is not enough for full-fledged competition.
About 400 F-35 aircraft of various modifications are used in the world, and for serious competition Russia needs to create no less number of its aircraft and establish their serial production, which, according to Eastwood, could be a problem for Russia.
And due to the larger number, the main advantage of the “American” will be the training of pilots of the allied armies.
“The advantage of the F-35 over the Su-75 is the training of pilots. The United States has plans for a pilot training center, and the Air Force is currently considering five different sites for this facility. This could be an advantage for the F-35, since the US allies would not be delighted with a trip to Russia for pilot training if Moscow proposed such an option, ”the expert emphasized.
