AMD: Radeon RX 7900 XTX is not a competitor to the GeForce RTX 4090

The official premiere of AMD’s latest flagship graphics cards did not compare with Nvidia’s competitor, the GeForce RTX 4090, which seemed rather strange. But an interview with AMD Head of Gaming Division Frank Azor to PCWorld clarified the situation: it turns out that the latest flagship Radeon RX 7900 XTX is not at all a competitor to the GeForce RTX 4090.

“[Radeon RX 7900 XTX] aimed at competing with [GeForce RTX] 4080 and we don’t have 4080 test results. This is the main reason why you haven’t seen any comparisons [c видеокартой] Nvidia. The $999 card is not a 4090 competitor that costs 60% more, it is a 4080 competitor‘ said Frank Azor.

This is the first interesting part of the interview, the second one is about FSR3 technology. According to Frank Azor, FSR3 is not a quick answer to DLSS3, the company has been working on the technology for a long time. And although AMD itself has not yet announced the exact release date of FSR3 and has not indicated the supported GPUs, a company official confirmed that FSR3 will not be exclusive to the RDNA3 architecture. That is, the technology will be supported by previously released 3D maps. You can think of at least models based on the RDNA2 architecture (Radeon RX 6000).
