AMD didn’t lie: the Ryzen 9 7950X is indeed 29% faster than the Ryzen 9 5950X in single-threaded tasks. But in multi-threaded performance gains are even greater

Yesterday AMD officially unveiled the Ryzen 7000 processor and reported that their performance in single-threaded tasks is 29% higher than that of their predecessors. The Ryzen 9 7950X test appeared on Geekbench today, and it fully confirms the official data: the Ryzen 9 7950X is indeed faster by 29% in a single-threaded test, but in a multi-threaded advantage over the Ryzen 9 5950X is even greater.

The Ryzen 9 7950X scored 2,217 in the single-threaded test and 24,396 in the multi-threaded test. For comparison, the Ryzen 9 5950X scores 1,700 and roughly 17,000 respectively. The difference in favor of the older model is 29% and 42%, respectively.

The Ryzen 9 7950X was tested in a PC with an Asus ROG Crosshair X670E Extreme motherboard and DDR5-6000 MHz RAM.
