AMD CTO: chip shortage will last until 2023

There are completely different forecasts regarding the shortage of chips, which affected a variety of industries, but, as a rule, everyone agrees on one thing: in 2022 the situation will not change dramatically. AMD CTO Mark Papermaster outlined his vision in an interview with BusinessLine.

In 2021, we project revenue growth of 65 percent over 2020. We can only achieve this kind of growth through excellence in our supply chain. In our markets, we see a decrease in supply in the second half of 2022-2023. It is then that we predict the normalization of the balance of supply and demand.

In other words, the industry will have to live with a shortage of components for the whole next year. And although the situation will begin to improve in the second half of 2022, the semiconductor industry will finally return to normal only in 2023. That is, the deficit will continue for about a year and a half.
