All-new Toyota Crown 2023 unveiled: now it’s four models

As expected, Toyota has unveiled the all-new Toyota Crown. This is the 16th generation of this model, which originally appeared on the market in 1955.

The 2023 Toyota Crown will be sold in 40 countries around the world, while now the manufacturer has decided to release the model in four body styles at once: a classic sedan, an “all-terrain” cross-sedan, a raised hatchback and a crossover, which the company calls “station wagon”.

During the development process, engineers tried to move the classic sedan into the era of crossovers. The new generation of the model is distinguished by increased ground clearance, smooth body lines and a sloping roof. The new Toyota Crown is available in 12 exterior colors and four interior trims.

Initially, the characteristics of the Toyota Crown 2023 cross-sedan were disclosed, the dimensions of which are 4928 x 1839 x 1539 mm with a wheelbase of 2850 mm. The car became completely different, it received massive bumpers, unusual headlights, which consist of four blocks. The cabin has two 12.3-inch screens, a modern three-spoke steering wheel, and a digital mirror. There is a projection on the windshield, a massive central tunnel with a non-fixed gearshift joystick and premium acoustics with ten speakers (in the top configuration). There is also a panoramic roof, seat ventilation, adaptive adjustable suspension. The base version has heated front seats, climate control, wireless charging and a six-speaker audio system.

Toyota Crown 2023 is based on the modern TNGA-K modular platform, which is also used on the latest generations of Toyota Camry, RAV4, Avalon, Venza. The suspensions are independent: MacPherson type struts are installed in front, multi-link in the back.

At first, the 2023 Toyota Crown will be sold only with hybrid powertrains based on a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine and a 2.4-liter turbo engine combined with nickel-hydride batteries. The first develops 186 hp. and 221 Nm of torque, and the second – 272 hp. and 460 Nm. Both versions are equipped with the modern E-Four all-wheel drive system.

In the basic version, there is a proprietary Toyota Safety Sense security system, which has been finalized and optimized specifically for this model. Added automatic valet with remote control.

In Japan, sales will begin in the fall at a price of 1.84 to 2.5 million rubles in terms of our money. Prices and characteristics of other modifications of the family will be announced later.
