Remedy Entertainment has delighted fans by announcing a full-fledged sequel to the original game Alan Wake, released back in 2010.
Alan Wake 2 will continue the story of the writer whose name appears in the title of the game, while the genre of the game will change. If the original project was a psychological action thriller, then the second part will be the studio’s first game in the Survival Horror genre.
The first cinematic teaser for Alan Wake 2 has also been released, showing multiple transitions from forest to city to small town. At the same time, Alan’s offscreen voice warns of monsters that have many guises.
Alan Wake 2 is our big fish. We dive deeper than ever into an ocean of darkness. While the first Alan Wake had elements of horror, it was an action game. Alan Wake 2 is Remedy’s first survival horror movie. Our view on the genre. Our opportunity to truly connect gameplay and story. This is a deep, multi-layered mystery.
Sam Lake, head of Remedy
Alan Wake 2 will be released on PlayStation 5, Windows PC and Xbox Series X in 2023. As a reminder, Alan Wake Remastered was released in October for PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X / S, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
