Airtel 5G Expected Launch Date in India
The launch date for Airtel 5G rollout is a hot topic in the market. Although there is no confirmation of the 5G network rollout from the telecom operator, it is expected to launch in India by this year. The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has officially revealed that 5G services will be launched in 13 cities in India in 2022.
The department has officially announced that the initial 5G services will be available in Delhi, Gurugram, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Chandigarh, Jamnagar, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Pune and Gandhi Nagar.
Airtel waiting for spectrum auction
Airtel has revealed that it is ready to launch its 5G services in India. The company is currently awaiting spectrum auction by the government and expects the Airtel 5G network to cover a large part of the country in a year.
Airtel 5G Internet Speed
Airtel 5G network speed is said to be the fastest in the country. The company last year conducted India’s first 5G test in the 700 MHz band in partnership with Nokia, which saw 1 Gbps internet speed.
For comparison, the current average 4G mobile internet speed is around 20Mbps, while the upload speed is around 5.09Mbps with an average latency of 477 milliseconds. Apart from this, Airtel also tested 5G internet speed in Hyderabad which provided peak internet speed of 3Gbps in 3500Mhz spectrum.
Airtel 5G SIM
Airtel 5G SIM is not available in the market, and it will not be there till the service is launched in the country. It looks like you won’t need a 5G SIM to enjoy high-speed internet. In countries where 5G has already been announced, services are also running with 4G LTE SIM.
This will be true till standalone 5G is achieved. However, you need to have a compatible device and an active 5G plan to use 5G.
