Air India’s big tension is over, this offer made things worse!

Air India Pilots: Air India Pilot Union has withdrawn its protest on the new wage and service agreement. On Thursday, the Indian Commercial Pilots Association (ICPA) and the Indian Pilots Guilds (IPG) told the pilots that they can sign this new wage contract. To end the impasse, both the pilot unions held a meeting, after which a decision was taken through voting. 80 percent of the members voted in favor of adopting the new wage contracts.

Union said this

ICPA and IPG have issued a letter on this matter saying that as dedicated Air Indians we believe that this dispute should be settled at the earliest and it is extremely important to find a solution for the benefit of both the parties. It is noteworthy that for a long time there was a dispute between Air India and the pilot organizations regarding the new wage contracts, after which the airlines had extended the period for signing the new agreement till May 12, 2023.

when did the standoff begin

On April 17, 2023, Air India issued a contract for new wage and employment settlement for its pilots and cabin crew members. It was only after this agreement that the deadlock between the company and the pilot union started and the union rejected it. The union said that the new draft is ignoring labor rules and no consultation has been held with the union before preparing it.

Apart from this, the Pilot Union had forbidden all its members from signing this agreement. Along with this, the union had also sent a legal notice to the company asking it to make changes. The pilots demanded that Ratan Tata also intervene in this matter, but after a long deadlock, now both the sides have agreed.
