Air India extended the deadline, now employees have time till this date to take VRS

Air India VRS Offer: Tata Group’s airline Air India has extended the deadline for its employees to opt for voluntary retirement ie VRS. Announcing the extension of the deadline on Monday, the company said that now interested employees can apply for VRS by the end of this month.

You can apply this way

Air India said that the applications of its employees who want to retire on their own will be accepted till May 31, 2023. Along with this, the company also added that accepting the application of the employees and fixing the day off from their job will depend entirely on the decision of the management.

acquired last year

Tata Sons had acquired the airline Air India in January last year. Air India thus returned to Tata after decades. After that Air India had told that its new owners would keep the employees on the job for one year and after that the employees could be given the option of VRS. The acquisition of Air India has completed 1 year in January this year.

VRS second offer

The airline has so far offered VRS twice to its employees. The first offer of VRS was made in June last year. The company then offered VRS for non-flying staff in March this year, whose deadline expired on April 30. It has now been extended till the end of May.

Such employees can opt

By the end of March, the number of employees of Air India was around 11 thousand. Of these, around 2,100 employees are eligible to opt for this VRS offer. In this offer, such employees of Air India can apply for VRS, who have completed 40 years of age and have been working in Air India for at least 5 years.

Will get this in lieu of VRS

The company will give ex-gratia as a lump sum payment to the employees who opt for VRS. Apart from this, Rs 1-1 lakh will also be given separately to such employees. Although Air India employees are demanding to increase the payment being given in lieu of VRS.
