Air India CEO: Cleared the way for Cambell Wilson to become CEO of Air India

Air India CEO: The way has been cleared for Campbell Wilson to become the CEO of Air India. The Home Ministry has given the necessary security clearance to make Cambell Wilson the CEO. Let us tell you that on 12, 2022, Tata Sons had decided to appoint Cambell Wilson as the CEO and Managing Director of Air India.

In fact, under the Civil Aviation Rules, it is very important to get approval from the Ministry of Home Affairs for the appointment of anyone, domestic or foreign, to the CEO or higher post in airline companies. Tata Sons acquired Air India from the government on 27 January 2022. After which, in February this year, Tata Sons had decided to appoint former Turkish Airlines chairman Ilkar Aysi as the CEO and MD of Air India. However, a controversy arose regarding his appointment. Ilkar IC later turned down the offer even before taking over from April 1, 2022.

Cambell Wilson was the CEO of Scooter Air, a wholly owned subsidiary of Singapore Airlines. Wilson has 26 years of experience in the aviation industry in full service and low cost aircraft operations. Wilson holds a Masters of Commerce in Business Administration from the University of Canterbury in New Zealand.

In his message to Air India employees on June 20, Cambell Wilson said the airline’s best years were yet to come and that the journey to make it a world-class airline would require a lot of effort. In recent times, Wilson has been meeting Air India employees. In October last year, through a bid, the government sold Air India to Tata Sons’ subsidiary Tales Pvt Ltd for Rs 18,000 crore.
