Afghan refugees from Peshawar, the capital of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, have started to cover their business. Afghan refugees have closed their businesses, medical clinics and educational institutions in Peshawar. Because the Government of Pakistan has given the deadline of March 31 to leave the country of Afghan refugees.
There have been major changes in political and social conditions in Pakistan in recent times. The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) is constantly targeting Pakistan’s security personnel. In this year (2025), BLA fighters have made several attacks on Pak security personnel.
Pakistan’s Afghan refugees defer
There has been a rift in relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Pakistan has granted Afghan citizen card holders and the Afghan citizens living illegally till March 31 to leave the country. The local administration in Peshawar has issued notices to the Afghans to close their business.
Due to the compulsion to leave Pakistan, Afghan students have been forced to return to the country. Many schools and colleges have been closed in areas like Fandu Road, Afghan Colony, Nasir Bagh Road, Board Market, Urmar and Shlakani.
What is the history of Afghan refugees
Many Afghan citizens came to Pakistan due to the Soviet-Afghan war that took place during 1980. After which the presence of Afghan refugees in Pakistan has been the issue of political and security.
In 2023, the Government of Pakistan started denying those people of Afghanistan from the country who had non-availability. However, it was later implemented to all Afghanistan citizens.
