Mobile internet traffic dropped for the first time in Russia. In the second quarter of 2022, compared to January-March, the decline was more than 2%. This was reported by the publication “Izvestia” with reference to the data of the Ministry of Digital Development.
So, according to the materials of the ministry, if in January-March 2022 the traffic amounted to 8.54 billion GB, then over the next three months it was at the level of 8.35 billion GB.
The press service of MegaFon confirmed to the publication that the reduction in the volume of mobile Internet traffic occurred for the first time. MTS noted that from March to May the company did not record the traditional growth of mobile traffic, and from June to September its standard summer decline began.
As market participants and experts explained, the decrease in the volume of mobile Internet is due to the blocking of foreign Internet resources, as well as the voluntary refusal of foreign services from working in Russia.
