The showroom manager, Mahavikrant had earlier refused to accept the coins. But he accepted the offer as he did not want to disappoint Bhupathi. In an interview with The Times of India, Mahavikrant said, “Banks will charge 140 as commission for counting 1 lakh (in Rs 2000 denominations). When we give them Rs 2.6 lakh in one rupee coins how will they accept it? It took 10 hours for the showroom to count the full amount. Earlier a person decided to buy Mahindra Bolero from coin sacks. The price of this SUV was around Rs 12 lakh.
