The Chinese division of Dongfeng-Peugeot has introduced a new basic version of the Peugeot 408X five-door cross-liftback.
If in Europe the manufacturer decided to focus on hybrid installations with a 1.2-liter 130-horsepower internal combustion engine, then the version for China received a more powerful gasoline turbo engine.
The Chinese version received a 1.6-liter turbo four from the Peugeot 408, whose power increased from 170 to 175 hp. The engine works in conjunction with an eight-speed “automatic”.
In general, the European and Chinese versions are similar: they received the same interior with the branded Peugeot i-Cockpit front panel, a ground clearance of 190 mm and a protective plastic body kit around the entire perimeter of the body.
Sales of the new Peugeot 408X in China will begin in April 2023, prices and specifications will be announced closer to the start of sales.
