Brightlamp has created the Reflex app. It helps clinicians diagnose and track treatment for a form of concussion injury. It has already been used by doctors in North America to examine patients undergoing treatment in neurological clinics. All information about the development of Reflex is published in Life magazine.
According to Dr. Frederick Carrick, professor of neurology at the University of Central Florida College of Medicine, the Reflex app recognizes biomarkers that indicate concussion. To do this, it measures the pupillary light reflex. At the same time, the smartphone is brought to the patient’s eye, then – after pressing the button – the flash (light) starts blinking.
