Be careful! Fake wedding cards are coming on WhatsApp, cyber criminals are secretly emptying bank accounts

A new type of cyber fraud has emerged on WhatsApp, where cyber thugs are changing the name of APK file and sending it in the name of wedding card to cheat innocent people. Actually this is a scam, due to which a person in Bikaner has been cheated of Rs 4.50 lakh. Let’s know about it.

The wedding season has begun, in which many people receive wedding cards on WhatsApp. Do you know that cyber thugs have not spared these wedding cards and they are cheating people using them. Usually, if no one comes to the house and gives an invitation, then the invitation is sent by sending a wedding card on WhatsApp.

Cyber criminals are sending APK files in the name of wedding invitation cards via WhatsApp, after which bank accounts are getting emptied. Cyber fraud experts say that common people open APK files knowingly or unknowingly, after which they get auto installed in the device.

This is how you get access to the phone

After this, the access of the device goes to cyber criminals. With this, cyber criminals read the messages of our phone, in which sensitive financial information like OTP, PIN number etc. goes to the hackers.

Cyber hackers can cause harm

Due to the control of mobile phone going into the hands of cyber hackers, they can easily make unauthorized online transactions or transfer funds from the bank account.

Did a similar case come up in Bikaner?

A victim Kailash from Bikaner has filed a case in the cyber police station that he received a file of a wedding card on the WhatsApp messaging app and when he opened it, he found that it was not of anyone he knew.

4.50 lakh rupees were withdrawn from the victim’s bank account

After this the victim thought that someone had sent it by mistake and he left it there. Four days later, Rs 4.50 lakh was withdrawn from the victim’s bank account.

Similarly, in Mangaliyawas of Ajmer, money was withdrawn from the account of PM Kisan Nidhi as soon as the file was opened. Cyber experts believe that it is very important to keep WhatsApp safe as well.

How to keep yourself safe?

If an APK file gets installed on your phone unknowingly, you should immediately remove it from your mobile. After this, if you notice any suspicious activity, you should turn off the internet connection of your phone. After this, go to the bank and get your bank account frozen.
