New Delhi. India has moved towards the fifth generation of internet from today. Under the supervision of the Department of Telecommunications (Dot), the country’s giant telecom companies are bidding for the 5G spectrum.
The government has started the spectrum auction on Tuesday to start the services of 5G network in the country. This process will run from 10 am to 6 pm. Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Idea and new player Adani Data Network have participated in the auction. The government has started the auction of 72,000 MHz airwaves for 5G network. The government is expected to raise Rs 4.3 lakh crore through the auction of the total spectrum. The government is expected to get around Rs 1 lakh crore from the first auction.
Facility will be available by the end of the year
Bharti Airtel’s Chief Technical Officer (CTO) involved in the auction, Randeep Sekhon said that after the completion of the spectrum auction process today, if everything goes well, then by the end of the year 2022 or early 2023, 5G facility will start. It is our endeavor that within 2 to 4 months of getting the spectrum, we will deliver 5G service to the customers.
Internet speed will increase 10 times
Telecom companies are buying spectrum of mid and high bands to reach 5G network to the customers. These bands have the ability to increase the internet speed up to 10 times compared to the current speed of 4G. The mid-range spectrum will be in the range of 3.3-3.67 GHz, while the high band includes the 26 GHz spectrum. Companies will be given this spectrum for 20 years.
Which company has more initial investment
Although all the companies are competing to start 5G network in the country, but Reliance Jio has deposited the maximum amount for this. The company has already deposited Rs 14 thousand crore with the DoT before the auction. Bharti Airtel comes at number two, which has deposited Rs 5,500 crore. After this, Vodafone Idea has deposited Rs 2,200 crore and Adani Network has deposited Rs 100 crore.
