Market analysts say there is little hope of aggressive bidding during the auction. This is because spectrum is available in sufficient quantity whereas there are only four bidders. Reliance Jio has deposited an amount of Rs 14,000 crore with the department for the auction while Adani Enterprises has deposited only Rs 100 crore. The same Sunil Mittal of Bharti Airtel has also deposited an amount of 5500 crores for the auction and on behalf of Vodafone-Idea has also deposited an amount of 2200 crores in the department.

5G Spectrum Auction: Government Confirmed

A total of 72GHz spectrum will be auctioned across multiple frequency bands, including 600MHz, 700MHz, 800MHz, 900MHz, 1800MHz, 2100MHz, 2300MHz, 3300MHz and 26GHz.

5G Spectrum Auction: When will 5G start in India?

Since the bidding starts today, it is clear that the back date scheduled for 5G rollout in August will not be possible. In that case, we can expect Airtel, Reliance, or Vi to start testing 5G commercially in September or October.
