56 cores, 105 MB L3 cache, 3.3 GHz frequency and power consumption up to 764 watts. The flagship processor Intel Sapphire Rapids-SP lit up on the Web

An engineering sample of Intel’s flagship processor of the Sapphire Rapids family (server Xeon) was lit up on the Web, endowed with 56 cores and supporting 112 threads. The CPU is marked with the ES2 index – this is an engineering sample with a D0 stepping, that is, it is already quite close to a serial product.

The CPU has 4.375 MB L1 cache and 105 MB L3 cache. The base frequency is 1.7 GHz, the maximum with all active cores is 3.3 GHz, with one active core is 3.7 GHz.

The power parameters of this monster look the most interesting. TDP is 350 W, consumption in PL2 mode is already 420 W, and at peak consumption can reach up to 764 W. Sapphire Rapids-SP are designed to be installed in the LGA4677 processor socket of motherboards based on the Intel C740 chipset.

The release of Sapphire Rapids-SP was expected last year, but the processors were delayed. Now their premiere, at the earliest, can be expected at the end of the current quarter. That is in June.
