Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign: The sale of the tricolor in Delhi has increased manifold with the festive day approaching for the central government’s ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign. Under the campaign, the central government aims to put up at least 200 million flags on houses from August 13 to 15 on the completion of 75 years of India’s independence.
It is difficult for flag makers to meet demand
The situation is that it has become difficult for the traders and manufacturers to supply the national flag according to the huge demand. Traders have claimed that on July 22, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi The sale of all types of tricolor has increased 50 times since the announcement of the campaign. However, there is always a demand for a medium sized national flag.
Delhi market condition
Gulshan Khurana, a wholesaler from Delhi’s Sadar Bazar, has been in the business of supplying the national flag for more than 50 years, but never before has he seen such a huge demand for the tricolor. Khurana was on his way to America for a holiday when he started getting calls from buyers for large orders of flags. He said, “I have been in this business for more than 50 years, you can say since childhood. But I have never seen such a demand for an Indian flag. My phone does not stop ringing.” He said that he had to come back home to fulfill the demand.
Every day 15 lakh flags are being prepared but there is more demand
To meet the demand, Khurana is manufacturing ‘Tiranga’ in only two sizes – 16 by 24 and 18 by 27. He said, “Every day we are producing around 15 lakh flags, but the demand is even higher. Orders are coming from all over India, because there is a shortage of flags in the country. So people can buy from wherever they can. We are receiving the flags. Just got an order for one lakh flags for Goa.”
National flag sales increased 50 times
Meanwhile, flag maker-cum-trader Anil said that he has engaged artisans from his other manufacturing units to manufacture the flag. He said that due to the sudden spurt in the demand for the national flag, its sales have increased 50 times.
