24 thousand rupees will be saved every year on electricity bill, country’s first portable solar system installed in Gandhinagar

The country’s first portable solar rooftop system has been inaugurated at the Swaminarayan Akshardham temple complex in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. A total of 10 PV port systems have been installed, with the support of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zussamenerbeit (GIZ) from the German development agency. These systems have been installed as part of an initiative to develop renewable energy cities in the country. The PV port systems designed by GIZ are plug and play photovoltaic systems of at least 2kWp. It comes with and without battery storage.

It costs less to install a PV port system. Its maintenance is also less expensive and it works for 25 to 30 years. It can be installed even by a single person and it suits the weather of the country.

It has been designed for 100% self use. The electricity generated is not put into the grid. Unlike traditional solar PV systems, its design panels are at the bottom and a PV system saves Rs 24,000 annually on electricity bills.

The PV ports system is manufactured by New Delhi-based Servotech Power Systems Limited (SPSL). It manufactures high-end solar products such as LEDs, oxygen concentrators and EV charging equipment. Raman Bhatia, Founder and Managing Director of the company said that the PV port system is the best for greater adoption of solar energy in the country.

Jörg Gabler, GIZ India, overseeing the project, said that such collaborations are expected to benefit the customers. We hope that this partnership will help us address the emerging challenges.

40 PV port systems are to be installed in Gandhinagar. Servotech Power Systems has already installed more than 30 systems at Pandit Deendayal Energy University, GSPC Bhawan, Indroda Park, NIFT, Arya Bhawan and other places. Significantly, the potential of solar energy in the country is huge, but the cost of installing its equipment is high. More and more people are adopting solar energy as technology is economical.
