Skoda Auto (Skoda Auto) has officially released the teaser of the new generation model of Skoda Superb (Skoda Superb) sedan and Kodiaq (Kodiak) SUV. The global debut of these models is slated for the end of this calendar year. Skoda had mentioned about these flagship cars earlier also. But this teaser is showing for the first time the models that can be launched in the Indian market next year.
The new generation Superb will be built at Volkswagen Group’s Bratislava plant in Slovakia. The same plant will also produce the next generation Volkswagen Passat which will share its platform with the Superb. The new Superb will come in sedan and station wagon body styles, while the next-gen Passat will get only the station wagon generation.
Skoda Auto has also confirmed that the 2024 Superb will come with petrol and diesel engines as well as plug-in hybrid and mild-hybrid powertrain options. The model has been Skoda’s flagship offering in its ICE range and has sold over 15.32 lakh units across three generations since the sedan was launched in 2001. With the fourth generation, Skoda promises “lots of convenience features as well as more interior space”.
Production of the new generation Skoda Kodiaq will continue at the Kravinci plant in the Czech Republic. The second generation of the SUV will get petrol and diesel engines with mild-hybrid technology as well as plug-in hybrid powertrain options. Skoda promises that the new “Kodiak will take Kodiaq safety, technology and versatility to the next level.”
In terms of looks and styling, both the new 2024 Skoda Superb and the Skoda Kodiaq look more angular than before. But it is difficult to say how much will change in the design of both the models. Skoda may bring a new design language with its ICE flagship 2024 Skoda Superb which will be seen in other models in future. Both the Kodiaq and the Superb are currently sold in India, but the Superb is likely to go out of production later this year after the global debut of the new generation model. Skoda Auto India is yet to confirm whether the next generation Superb will be sold in India or not, while chances are high that the new Kodiaq will hit the market.
