Skoda Kodiaq has made a comeback in India and this time it has come in a facelift avatar. It is offered only in a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine that churns out 190 PS of power and 320 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox that supplies power to all wheels. It has been introduced with three variants and some cosmetic updates. Due to the new update, it has become a little expensive than before. In such a situation, the question arises that how far will it be able to compete with other cars in the segment on the price front? Which we will learn about here:

  • The starting price of Skoda Kodiaq is the highest in this list. It is only available in the petrol engine and all-wheel-drive system is standard in it. The Toyota Fortuner in this list also comes with only a petrol engine but it does not have an all-wheel-drive system. Whereas MG Gloster and Mahindra Alturas G4 are available only in diesel engines.
  • The base variant of the Kushak SUV is Rs 1 lakh more expensive than the mid variant Smart of the Style MG Gloster , while it is around Rs 2 lakh more expensive than the petrol-automatic variant of the Fortuner and Rs 3 lakh more than the top model Mahindra Alturas G4 4WD.
  • The Fortuner is powered by a 2.7-litre petrol engine that generates 166 PS of power and 245 Nm of torque. There is a choice of 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox with the engine. It gets less technology comfort and only a two-wheel-drive system. These variants are cheaper than the Kodiaq.
  • The Gloster is offered with two diesel engine options: 2.0-litre turbo and 2.0-litre twin-turbo. The former engine generates 163 PS of power and 375 Nm of torque. It only comes with a rear-wheel-drive system. The second engine generates 218 PS of power and 480 Nm of torque. It only comes in an all-wheel-drive system. Both engines are mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. This is the only model in this list in which ADAS technology has been given. However, this feature has been given in its top model, whose price is about 1.5 lakh rupees more than the Kodiaq top model. The Gloster is the only car in this list which also gets a choice of 6 seater. In its 6 seater version, a captain seat has been given in the middle row.
  • Alturas G4 is the most affordable car here. Its two-wheel-drive version is more than Rs 2 lakh cheaper than the entry-level Gloster while its all-wheel-drive version is several lakh rupees cheaper. The Alturas G4 is powered by a 2.2-litre diesel engine that generates 181 PS of power and 420 Nm of torque. It is mated to a 7-speed automatic gearbox with the engine.
  • This flagship SUV car of Skoda will also compete with the upcoming Jeep three-row SUV which can be launched by the end of 2022.
